Terms of Service

Last updated 15 June 2026

These terms govern your use of Hopstead, a service operated by Richard Craig, a sole trader trading as “Hopstead” and based in England (“Hopstead”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Hopstead. They work alongside our Privacy Policy.

The service

Hopstead is a road-trip planning tool for motorhomes and campervans. Routing, points of interest, fuel prices and parking-restriction information are provided as guidance only and may be incomplete or out of date. You are responsible for checking local signage, road suitability for your vehicle, and current restrictions before you travel or stay overnight. We don’t guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Your account

  • You must give accurate account details and keep your sign-in secure.
  • Accounts are for a single user. You may not share your sign-in credentials or let others access Premium features through your account.
  • You must be at least 18, or have a parent/guardian’s consent.

Sharing a read-only trip link with friends or family is a feature of Hopstead and is fine - this restriction is about sharing account access, not your itineraries.

Acceptable use & fair usage

You agree not to:

  • Access the service through automated means, scrape it, or place unreasonable load on it.
  • Resell, redistribute or commercially exploit the service or its data without our permission.
  • Misuse AI features, or use them beyond reasonable personal planning use.
  • Upload unlawful, infringing or harmful content, or attempt to disrupt the service.

To keep the service fair and reliable for everyone, we may apply reasonable usage limits and may throttle, suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service or breach these terms.

Subscriptions & billing

  • Hopstead has a free plan and a paid Premium plan. Premium is £2.99 / month or £29.99 / year (prices shown in GBP; local currency applied at checkout).
  • New accounts include a 30-day free trial of Premium. If you don’t subscribe, you move to the free plan when the trial ends.
  • Founding/launch prices, where offered, are locked in for as long as your subscription stays active; standard prices may be higher for later subscribers.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. Paid subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled.
  • You can cancel any time from your account’s billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and you keep Premium until then.
  • As a consumer you have a 14-day right to cancel a new subscription. Because Premium is digital content you can use immediately, by subscribing you ask us to start the service straight away and acknowledge this may affect that right once you’ve used it. Beyond your statutory rights, payments are generally non-refundable.

Your content

You keep ownership of the trips, notes and photos you create. You grant us the licence needed to host and display that content to operate the service. If you choose to publish a route to the public gallery, you agree it will be visible to others; you can unpublish it at any time.

Our intellectual property

Hopstead, its software, branding and design are owned by us or our licensors. Map and POI data come from third parties such as OpenStreetMap contributors and are subject to their own licences. These terms don’t grant you any rights in our IP beyond using the service as intended.

Disclaimers & liability

The service is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from your reliance on routing, parking or other guidance. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud). Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Termination

You can stop using Hopstead and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g. IP, liability) continue to apply.

Changes & governing law

We may update these terms; we’ll update the date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you. These terms are governed by the laws of ENGLAND & WALES, and the courts of ENGLAND & WALES have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence.
